our roots — How it all started

We are Lamine and Mona, two plant-lovers living in Hackney Wick.
During the UK’s first lockdown, we realised how much living surrounded with plants was making us feel better, and decided to use our love of plants, DIY and art to create Repot. We took cuttings from plants we had at home and started propagating them.

Our first plants were baby Aloe Vera and Tradescantia from well grown mother plants. We started painting pots and repotting them in our living room… Repot was born!

Every pot has been designed and painted by ourselves, and delivered by walk or bike in Hackney Wick where our story started, every plant we grew and every pot we painted sold out, so we decided to carry on!

Since our start in May 2020, we had the chance to be part of Pop-Up Stores in Portobello Road (J/M Gallery) and Oxford Street (The Koppel Project) as well as local markets (Barge East, Hackney Wick Underground) and exhibitions (Open House Hackney).

During the summer 2021, we had the great opportunity to fill The Lord Napier (Hackney Wick’s most famous pub) with 115 plants and hand-painted pots.

In September, we painted pots and repotted plants for the special return of The Big Breakfast.
